Background and Customer Requirements

DIMA AGLO is a company established in 1993 and dedicated to the manufacture of precast concrete products in Morocco. The company has now expanded its activity to include the supply of dry mortar products.

The products it manufactures include:

• Precast walls.
• Precast curbs.
• Bricks.
• Precast beams.
• Precast pipes.

The customer acquired a mortar plant in Spain and required its complete relocation to Morocco.

Since the material arriving at the Moroccan plant would neither be dried nor classified, while dismantling the plant in Spain we carried out an expansion engineering project incorporating an aggregate drying system using a rotary dryer and a new aggregate screening and classification area at the top of the plant. This required modifications to the original structural design and the construction of a new roof structure.

In addition, the original plant was designed exclusively for supplying mortar to bulk tanker trucks. The customer also wanted to supply the product in individual bags and palletized units. Therefore, the plant was expanded with a bagging, palletizing and wrapping line, as well as a direct truck loading line for bags using a belt conveyor.

Solutions, Equipment and Installations

The relocated plant consists of the following equipment.

Original plant equipment

• Mortar plant tower structure.
• 2 aggregate receiving hoppers.
• 1 aggregate bucket elevator.
• 4 aggregate silos.
• 6 cement silos of 50 m³ each.
• Aggregate and cement screw conveyors.
• Additive micro dosing units.
• 1 cement scale.
• 1 aggregate scale.
• 1 additive scale.
• 1 mixer of 4,500 litres.
• 1 buffer hopper.
• 2 telescopic loaders.
• 1 finished product screw conveyor.
• 1 finished product elevator.
• 2 finished product silos for mortar of 65 m³ each.
• 2 truck weighing systems.

New equipment supplied by SOTECMA

• 1 rotary dryer of 50 t/h and 55 kW.
• 1 burner.
• 1 bag filter for the dryer.
• 1 SL 250 5 vibrating screen.
• 2 screw conveyors feeding the classifier.
• 1 CTC-019 dynamic classifier, 22 kW.
• 2 cyclones of 9,500 m³/h for the dynamic classifier.
• 4 bagging machines of 7.5 t/h each.
• 5 belt conveyors.
• 1 palletizer.
• 1 manual wrapping machine.
• 2 electrical and control cabinets for the plant.
• New roof structure.

In addition, the services provided by SOTECMA included dismantling and relocating the original plant to Morocco, engineering the expansion project with the new equipment, manufacturing, dismantling the plant in Spain and supervising the installation of the aforementioned equipment in Morocco.

SOTECMA was also responsible for electrical engineering, automation and on-site installation supervision.

This complete turnkey project was carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic, overcoming the logistical challenges associated with transporting materials and personnel between countries.
