Sludge Treatment and Stabilisation

SOTECMA provides highly efficient solutions for dosing different reagents used in sludge stabilisation and activated sludge treatment processes.

Activated Sludge Treatment Process and System

Depending on their origin and treatment, sludge contains a high moisture content and is difficult to handle. In addition, its organic content generates unpleasant odours. The addition of lime minimises these problems. Accurate reagent dosing together with proper mixing is essential for the process.

Quicklime increases sludge dryness both through the addition of the product itself and by the exothermic reaction it produces. Furthermore, both quicklime and hydrated lime sanitise the sludge by increasing the pH, destroying bacteria and microorganisms.

The final result is the valorisation of the sludge, allowing its use for composting, energy recovery, construction materials and other applications.

Wastewater Sludge Treatment

Stabilisation and sanitisation of wastewater treatment sludge using Calcium Oxide (CaO), Calcium Hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) and Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3).

Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs) generate sludge and, as waste producers, must ensure its proper management.
