Water clarifier tank

Water Clarifier Tanks

SOTECMA water clarifier tanks are designed to recover and recycle the process water used in sand washing and wet mineral processing plants. Their main function is to separate suspended solids from the process water, allowing clean water to be reused while significantly reducing overall water consumption.

The process also produces a highly concentrated mineral sludge, which can subsequently be treated using filter presses or other dewatering systems.

How Does a Water Clarifier Work?

Water containing fine suspended particles enters the clarifier tank, where the solids settle to the bottom while the clarified water remains at the top and overflows for reuse within the process.

To improve settling efficiency and accelerate the separation process, chemical flocculants are added to promote the agglomeration and rapid sedimentation of fine particles.

At the bottom of the tank, a rotating scraper continuously conveys the settled sludge towards a central discharge cone, where it is removed by a high-density sludge pump. The scraper is equipped with a lifting safety system to protect the mechanism in the event of overload or blockage.

The sludge pump is specifically designed to handle highly concentrated slurries, with solids concentrations of up to 500 g/L.

Our Water Clarifier Tanks

SOTECMA manufactures water clarifier tanks with diameters ranging from 8 to 14 metres, capable of treating process water flows of up to 850 m³/h containing high concentrations of fine solids.

An automatic flocculant dosing system can be supplied as optional equipment to improve particle settling, significantly increasing the efficiency of the clarification process.
