Belt conveyors

BELT CONVEYORS AND CONVEYOR BELTS

Belt conveyors, also known as conveyor belts, are probably the most widely used equipment for the conveying and handling of bulk solids. SOTECMA designs, manufactures and supplies a comprehensive range of belt conveyors specifically adapted to the characteristics of each material and the specific requirements of every application.

Types of Belt Conveyors

We supply a wide range of industrial belt conveyors, designed to suit the specific application, installation requirements and the characteristics of the material to be handled. At SOTECMA, we manufacture the following types:

Lattice Frame Belt Conveyors

This type of conveyor is characterised by its robust lattice structure, similar to a truss beam. The frame is manufactured from rolled steel sections (UPN channels, angle sections and other structural profiles) assembled to form a highly rigid and resistant triangulated structure.

Main Features

  • High structural rigidity: the lattice design distributes loads efficiently, allowing long spans between support points without the need for intermediate supports.
  • Modular design: manufactured in modules to facilitate transportation and on-site assembly.
  • Versatility: particularly suitable for mining, cement plants, steelworks, aggregate processing plants and concrete batching plants.

Typical Applications

  • Long-distance conveying of materials in quarries and mining operations.
  • Crushing, screening and material classification plants.
  • Long belt conveyor installations in industrial facilities.

Folded Sheet Frame Belt Conveyors

Belt conveyors with folded sheet frames are manufactured from cut and folded steel plates that form a compact, enclosed structure with high mechanical strength.

Main Features:

  • Robust enclosed structure: protects the internal components of the conveyor.
  • Especially suitable for bulk materials: capable of conveying fine, medium and coarse materials.
  • Improved material containment: the design minimises material losses during conveying, making these conveyors particularly suitable for powders, sludge and waste materials.

Typical Applications:

  • Quarries, gravel pits and cement plants.
  • Waste and sludge treatment plants.
  • Chemical and steel industries.

Low-Profile Belt Conveyors with U-Frame

These conveyors combine a low-profile design with the structural strength of a U-shaped frame. Their reduced overall height makes them ideal for installations where vertical space is limited.

Main Features:

  • Low-profile design: ideal for installation beneath other equipment or in shallow pits.
  • Easy loading and unloading: the open U-frame configuration allows different feeding and discharge arrangements.
  • Material protection: the troughed configuration helps contain the conveyed material and reduces losses caused by wind and other external factors.

Typical Applications:

  • Production lines with limited installation space.
  • Installations on uneven terrain.
  • Processes requiring protection of the conveyed material during transport.

All our belt conveyors can be custom-manufactured to meet the required length, belt width and conveying capacity of each individual project.

Auxiliary and Optional Equipment

We also offer a wide range of accessories and optional equipment, including:

  • Single and double walkways.
  • Head walkways.
  • Covers in various designs and configurations.
  • Safety devices complying with current regulations, as well as customised solutions for demanding applications.
  • Loading skirts.
  • Belt scrapers.
  • Special conveyor belts.
  • Stockpiling conveyor designs (radial, reversible and travelling conveyors).
  • Stockpile trippers.
  • And many other specific accessories.

As specialists in dosing and weighing systems, SOTECMA also manufactures belt feeders, a variation of belt conveyors designed for the continuous weighing of bulk solids, as well as weighing belts commonly used in concrete batching plants.

In addition, we supply a comprehensive range of accessories, spare parts and auxiliary components for belt conveyors.

Rollers, Drums and Idler Stations for Belt Conveyors

We offer a comprehensive range of rollers, drums and other components for the customisation and adaptation of belt conveyors to the specific requirements of each installation.

Rollers

  • Plain rollers.
  • Impact rollers.
  • Guide rollers.
  • Self-cleaning rollers.

RODISOT rollers have been designed and manufactured to provide maximum reliability, long service life and virtually maintenance-free operation, even under the most demanding operating conditions. Their main features include:

  • Uniform sealing around the entire perimeter.
  • Perfectly balanced weights, reducing dynamic loads and allowing higher operating speeds.
  • Weld-free construction, eliminating burrs and sharp edges.
  • Perfectly centred shaft thanks to precision machining of the tube ends.
  • High strength and long service life due to the tube wall thickness.
  • 2Z bearings with double shielding and permanent lubrication.
  • Design free from unnecessary labyrinth seals and friction.
